On the 14th, we were supposed to define the following :
two-term ratio
three-term ratio
part-to-part ratio
part-to-whole ratio
unit rate
unit price
proportion
so here it is.
Legend
Red - Word
Blue - Definition
Green - Example
two-term ratio:
A term used to refer to ratio that compares two quantities of the same unit to each other.
For example,
4:3
would be a two-term ratio.
three-term ratio:
A term used to refer to ratio that compares three quantities of the same unit to each other.
For example,
1:2:3
would be a two-term ratio.
part-to-part ratio:
A term used to refer to ratio that compares two different parts of the same ratio to each other.
For example,
3:7
would be a part-part ratio.
part-to-whole ratio:
A term used to refer to ratio that compares all of the different parts of the same ratio to each other.
For example,
3 : 7 : 10 : 5
would be a part-to-whole ratio.
unit rate:
A rate with any numerator but with a denominator of one.
For example,
70 9052935235
--- or -----------------
1 1
unit price:
The price of a single or one unit in a group or pack of the item.
For example,
If $1.00 was for 5 apples, then the unit price would be $0.20 for each unit or apple.
proportion:
A special type of ratio expressing a relationship between the part and the whole where the numerator is always part of the total and the denominator is the total.
For example,
There are 32 boys in a school of 60 school kids
or
32
---
60
would be proportion.
