Probability

Today in math class we learnt about probablity. We learnt about theoretical probability & experimental probability.

Probability can be expressed by using:

-a probability tree

-dice and coin toss

-ratio tables

Theoretical Probability

What math says should happen.

TP= favorable outcome
total possible outcomes.

Outcome

=Heads, Tails

=1,2,3,4,5,6

Experimental Probabilty

EP= favorable outcomes

number of experiments

***The more you experiment the closer you get to the theoretical probabilty***

Probability Trees

-coin ---> Head, Tail 2
-6 sided cube ---> 1,2,3,4,5,6 x6
12

Chantel`s Pay It Forward

Hey guys,

Part 1:

In the movie, Trevor's teacher gave them an assignment "pay it forward" to do in Social Studies. Trevor was trying to make a difference by helping 3 people, then those 3 people help 3 others. It also meant try not to think of yourself all the time and get into someone else's shoes and help the ones in need.

Part 2:

My act of kindness was to watch my brother.

I chose it because when I usually don't watch him becuse he's usually with his friends.

I helped my mom so she can go where ever she wants to go.

I did this on Sunday after my hockey practice.

Part 3:

I did this at my house because my brother and I couldn't go anywhere.

What happend was, on Saturday December 5th my mom asked me if I would watch Noah for $10 an hour and she was gone for 5 1/2 hours. She came back and said "heres your money." But I didn't take it.

I did not tell my mom to pay it forward,

Part 4:

The idea "Pay it Forward" is important because if you help someone, they just might help someone they know and keep going on in a cycle.

My act of kindness probably has made a difference. My brother wants to watch my little cousin, but he is too young to watch little kids.

sorry my pictures couldn't upload. =(

chantel`s scribepost

hey guys , so today we were continuing building our squares.

How many perfect squares can you make with 4 squares ?

- with 4 squares you can make 1 perfect square because with 2 squares it has a decimal and no equal sides. with 3 squares it wouldn't work either because it has different sides. with 4 squares it work work, because with 4 squares it has a whole number.

What is the approx. side length of a square that uses:

;2sides-
the approximate side length would be 1.2x1.2=1.44
;3sides- the approximate side length would be 1.3x1.3=1.69
;4sides- the approximate side lenght would be 1.4x1.4=1.96

sorry if its not right, at least i tried. please comment (:

BOB, chantel816, graphing, October 6.09

Hey guys,

Today's homework is to write 3 things you need to know about graphing!

What I know is that
-First of all if your making a graph be sure that the intervals and the labels are correct.

- You need to make sure what your understanding and being able to explain what it is about.

- and Make sure you write down the data you've collected so that you won't forget what to put on your graph.

What I now know to improve my test.
What I now know to improve my test is to make a paragraph about my misrepsented because on my second graph it looked like my first graph and I also need to add color to the graph because coloring the graph actually got a mark.
COMMENT PLEASE! (:

Chantel, Four 4s

Hey guys,

Okay, our homework was to find out what was the same between these two equations (Sorry I don't have a divide sign on my laptop so i'll put a picture.) Like as you see, I have the picture on the side. Also below I will be saying divde becuase i dont have a divde sign.

But anyways, How i think they are both the same is because:
4 divide by 4
= 1 then you can add 4 divided by 4 = 1 again, here is an example :
4divide by 4 = 1
4 divide by 4 = 1
Since they both add up to 1, you can add 1+1 = 2.

4/4 is like a fraction to me and 4/4 is ONE WHOLE, then if you add another 4/4 it equals 2.

PLEASE COMMENT! (:

sorry if it confuses you!
