Deniel's surface area growing post

Okay guys here is my surface area growing post about right rectangular prism, right triangles, and cylinders

Here is my first surface area question:
Okay here is what I did:

front:
13.5 cm x 18.5cm =area 13.5 x 18.5= 249.75cm x 2 = 499.5cm
side:
5 cm x 13.5cm =area 13.5 x 5= 67.5cm x 2 = 135cm
length:
18.5 cm x 5cm =area 18.5 x 5= 92.5cm x 2= 185cm

499.5+135+185= 819.5
Area= 819.5cm

Here is my second question:
Okay so here's what I did:

A= l x w A= (b x h) / 2
A= 9 x 3 A=(3 x 2.6) / 2
A= 27 The area on one rectangle is 27m A=7.8 / 2
A=3.9 and its the area of one triangle

Surface Area= (3 x rectangle) + (2 x area of triangle)
= (3 x 27) + (2 x 3.9)
= 81 + 7.8
= 88.8
So the surface area is 88.8 centimetre squared.

Here's my third question:
Here's what I did:
Determine the radius of each circle:
7.5 / 2 = 3.75 so 3.75 is the radius of each circle

Find the area of the circle
A=π x r2
A=3.14 x 3.75 x 2
A= 44.15625 so the area of one circle is 44.15625 x 2 = 88.3125 for both circles.

Find the area of the rectangle using the circumference of the circle.
A= l x w
A=(π × d) × w
A= 3.14 × 7.5 × 11
A= 259.05
The area of the rectangle is approximately 259.05 cm2.

Calculate the total surface area.
Surface area = 88.3125 + 259.05
= 347.3625
The total surface area is approximately 347.36 cm2

So here is my surface area growing post :)

Deniel's Scribepost January 14

Okay I wanted to do a scribe post so the questions I got to do were 15,10,7,3 but anyway here are my answers:

Question 3
Shindi commented to a friend that “some percents would be easier to show
if we shaded the parts that were not included in the percent.” Explain what
she means. Which percents are easier to show using Shindi’s method? Why?

I think she meant was an example like this: (sorry no pic)

Shindi meant was that on a graph pretend the answer was 54% but the reason why she said that was that the person shaded in 46 meaning that what Shindi meant about the answer or the other reason was that the first answer (46%) was the real answer but it maybe was acutally 54% but anyway yeah.

Question 7
Represent the percent in each statement on a grid.

a) Attendance at the fall fair increased by 3.2% this year.

The Fall fair increased by 3.2%.

b) The average mass of a Singapura cat is about 0.13% of the mass of a Siberian tiger.
The Siberian Tiger would be 0.13%

c) The length of the Yukon River is about 230% of the length of the Fraser River.

The length of the Yukon river is 230%.
Question 10
Why might a scientist studying water pollution work with percents less than one?

Because the scientist might have found out that the pollution is less than 1 %

Question 15
Show how hundred grid(s) could be used to represent a very small percent, such as 0.000 0125%.

In my opinion for this answer I just guessed but her is my solution:

On a graph it would show (sorry no pic :/) 100 so it would show as 10=1 as we keep going we get to 10 dividing it by 0.001 we would get 0.0001 so as we keep going 0.00001 we gotta reach 0.0000125 so here is my answer to that question:

0.1/ 10 = 0.01 / 10 = 0.001
then replace the one making it 125 so 0.125/ 10 = 0.0125
then 0.0125/ 10 = 0.00125 / 10 = 0.000125 / 10 = 0.0000125 and theres your answer

PLEASE COMMENT IF IM MISTAKEN ANYTHING!!!!!!!!
(sorry no pic I did this today and some questions i had no time to think)

Deniel's scribpost 8-16 January 6th 2010 Question 16#

QUESTION 16#

Hey guys okay I really don't know if I was to do this question or not today but ill do it anyway...
The question I chose was Question 16 and it was the hard question but i figured it out anyway so here is my solution:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
What is the length of the red diagonal in the box? Express your answer to the nearest tenth of a millimetre.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

Here is my answer to this problem:
(Sorry if i didn't add any the letters a,b,c because it was hard putting them on the picture.)

When I was estimating I tried to figure out the problem by seeing what the question meant so here's what I did:
I multiplied the numbers by 2 making it 218 so I squared that number making it 14.8 because I rounded it by a tenth which makes this my solution but my answer is gonna be next.
__+__+__+__+__+__+____+__+__+__+__+__+____+__+__+__+__+__+__+

All I did was:
A²+B²+C² = ???

5mm² + 7mm² + 12mm² =???
So I multiplied them making an answer: (5x5)+(7x7)+(12x12)=218

So I squared the number making an answer which was: √218 = 14.7 rounding it making it 14.8
so that is my answer for Question 16#

Deniel's Scribepost from Page 92 Question 15#

Hey everybody! I chose to do question 15# in the textbook in page 92 so here are my solutions!

Question 15...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Construction workers have began to dig a hole for a swimming pool. They want to check that the angle they have dug is 90°. They measure the diagonal as shown to be 9.5 m. Is the angle 90°?

Explain your reasoning!
So here are my answers.

I calculated the side lengths by squaring the numbers 6 and 8 and multiplying them by the same number I got 100.
I times 6x6=36 and 8x8=64 although adding them made it 100°. So
____
√100 = 10m

_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Another reason I have is that the angle is not a(n) right angle because since its not a perfect square because the diagonal should be 10m to be right angled. Also if it was gonna be a perfect square it should have been a 7x7 square but anyway since this question is easy comment if you want but yeah!

PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!!!!!! NOW hehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deniel's Pay it forward!!

Hey this is about me paying it forward so yeah here I go:

Part 1: What did the movie 'Pay it forward' mean to you?

In my opinion after I watched the movie it was great changing someones life into making that person make more people getting a better life changing more and more and more.The movie was also about a kid who wanted to change the world by... helping a homeless man, a kid as the same age as him and his teacher.Its also a kind thing not to think of yourself but to think of yourself and other people meaning not being selfish but being the kindest person you can be.But it is also a good thing in life.

Part 2:What was your act of kindness?

My act of kindness was to mail letters into peoples mail boxes and which some people declined but some people thought it was nice so it was kind of cold but after we did it, it was cool mailing it house to house.

Why did you choose this activity?

I chose the activity because I thought it would be a great thing because if a person didn't have anything in life it would remind them if they had a son or daughter thing but a lot of people asked why I was sending it so we would tell them what it was.

Who did you help?
I helped any person who would accept the envelope but it would be great and yeah

What did you do?
I sent out mailing envelopes of cards in it putting it into mail boxes.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on the last 2 days before the due date on December 08 2009

Part 3: How did your act of kindness go?
It went pretty good actually but some houses didn't want the envelope so I gave it to another house and kept on going and going til we were done mailing.

What Happened?
I was afraid of putting it in mail boxes because the people inside the house would like come out saying what are you doing and like they decline it being all mad and grumpy and it was really cold outside at night I was afraid we wouldn't last long.

How did you feel?
It kinda felt I could do more but as I said it was really cold at night so it was frustrating taking pictures and taking off our gloves and putting them back on.I also felt a feeling that it was a good thing because after I did it made me happy because we mailed the envelopes into house to house and added some stuff in the envelopes.But I also felt shy because when I placed them in the mailboxes I felt like I had to run because the person could have been scary but yeah.
How did the person or people react?
After I placed some letters and knocked on some doors the people were surprised what we were giving them and some thought it was a big thick chocolate bar and some said thank you and the other's left and said thank you and didn't even ask why but oh well.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay it forward"?
I actually forgot a person but I said it to the other people and it was really hard to explain it and I was really shy and froze up when they answered the door.

How did they react to your request?
Yeah went good and some were surprised after I told them what "Paying it forward" meant to us and them.

Part 4: Why is the Idea "Pay it forward important"?
It is the most important thing in life because it makes people have a second chance and helping them not to do violence but to respect everyone and everywhere. Also it shows that not everyone is different being rich or poor, ugly or beautiful, and a boy or girl because we are all the same that's how the creator of us made us this way.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I hope it does make a difference but in my opinion I just want them to accept it and not to decline or throw it away but to be thankful for it.

DON'T FORGET!.... Pay it forward straight on ahead!

Deniel's Scribepost!

What we did today! which was... MAKING SQUARES #2

Hey!!!!! OK today we did how to use the grid paper making squares and how to make them bigger so yeah....

OK the first thing was to cut the squares 10x10 , 8x10 and also , 2x10 but after we did that we had to make more so here's my explanation for you guys :)

Explanation: The second thing was to build squares so here are some examples I did and made up one
eg.squaring a number times it by the same number like 2x2 so your doubling the square number or number.Also another thing since 1x1 equals 1 we made it into 0.1 for each cube because of the dimensions in the cube.

As we were making it bigger we had to cut 6 or 7 pieces out but the first piece we had to place was the 8x10 piece and place it on the right or left corner of y
our big sheet of yellow paper then the second thing was to get the 2x10 piece that was the same color as the 8x10 piece that you had to color and
paste it beside the left or right side making it a 10x10 square. After we placed it we used the other 8x10 piece and we had to cut it into 2x10 pieces which left us 3 pieces of 2x10 but the last piece was cut into 2x2 pieces which made 4 because we had to fill in the space on the left or right top corner also the last piece was from the 2x10 because we split in have making 2 pieces of 2x10.The next step was to get that extra piece on the left or right side of the big 14x14 square so
here's a picture to show what it should look like:

I'm sorry for not making a ratio table but i had an idea making it so yeah here are the answers what we did this class and we had to do the area:
As 1x1=1 that was the area of the first answer.
As 1.1x1.1=1.21 that was the area for the second answer.
As 1.2x1.2=1.44 that was the area for the third answer.
As 1.3x1.3=1.69 that was the area for the fourth answer.
As 1.4x1.4=1.96 that was the area for the last and fifth answer.

The biggest area was 1.4 because it was on the edge and we doubled it so yeah.

Also there was a 2x2 square left over and we had to make a really big square using all the pieces so good luck with that!

Another thing is when Mrs.U finished done with the big square she told us a question which was...
Why is there 4 square left over not like the pieces separated like into a square a 2x2 square.

So..... yeah hope you guys like my big scribe post and sorry for posting this in the morning so yeah.
NOW!!! he he...COMMENT

Ratio definitions. Deniel 8-16

Ok you guys! Today we were suppose to define "ratio" in the 4 questions Mr.harbeck gave us so yeah here I go!

_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_[]_
Two term ratios: Compares 2 numbers , 2 quantities, and compares 2 fractions in the same unit or question. ( like a:b or a/b or a to be )

Three term ratios: Relates to the question with 3 numbers, fractions, and quantities in the same unit and question. ( like a:b:c or a/b/c or a to b to c )

Part to Part ratios's: Compares different kinds of quantities or amounts in one group and another group or just 1 thing.

Part to Whole: Compares 1 item into one whole or being one joining forming a whole.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Just to remind you guys about doing ratio!

-Change the quantities to the same unit if Necessary
-Write the items in the ratio as a fraction
-And make sure you have the same items in the numerator and denominator!

My post from friday and Today

Ok you guys I know i made a late post but Im doing the second one so yeah here i go.

Question 1: How full is the Canadian jar?

In the U.S jar you guys know that there is 3/4 coins in that jar and the Canadian jar there is 370 coins which could 1/4 i guess.The Canadian jar could be anything and any solution but the thing is it depends how much is in there.So i estimated that there could be about 200 pennies, 50 nickels, 100 dimes and 20 quarters but the fact about this question is that it could be more then 370 or maybe higher then that but could make about 5$ or even 3$ to it.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Question 2: How long will it take to fill the if you put one coin each day?

It depends how much and how many days you add 1 coin each and everyday but the fact is that how much the jar can hold and how much capacity.So I estimated again and each coin from the U.S would take about 3 years including counting the days which is 370 but it depends how much you put each day but in my opinion and if you want my opinion is would take 3 years in July 9th.
So here is my solution for this problem:
$00.01- Would take about 10 000 days to complete this jar in about 365 0000 days to complete.
$00.05- Would take about 5000 days to complete this in about 1825 000 days to complete the jar.
$00.10- Would take about 2500 days to be a-little complete or not but will take 912500 days to complete.
$00.25- Would take about 1250 days to not be complete but can be about 2/4 but the days I estimated will be 456 250 days to complete I guess.

=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=

Since I was late here are the questions for the old post i never did:

Question 1: What is the most common coin?

In my solution I used probability because it depends on the color because the pennies are $00.01 and they are small to be recognized and they are the ones that cost cheap so pennies are the most coins in the jar and i estimated that there could be about 2000 coins or less in that jar.

Question 2: How can we make $100 in that jar?

In my opinion there are many ways to make $100 in that jar.
My first solution is that it could be 10 000 pennies to make $100 in that jar.
Or also making 500 nickels to make $100 in that jar.
There are many ways you can make 100 in that jar and also estimating how to make $100.

Bob Deniel-816

Hey you guys! The things you need on your test and you should have had was that, :

1.Always have the numbers labeled on the interval.
2.The bar graph or any other graph should be colored except the line graph because its black.
3.You should have a title representing what you did on the data.
4.You must label the x-axis and the y-axis at its perfect spot on the graph.
5.You can mislead the graph any other way but doing it differently
6. And you can put a bar graph sideways or the other side of it.

What i need to work on:

The thing i need to work on is how to talk about the graph I'm presenting because when i was doing homework I added some random stuff so I really need help on that and to put ratio tables representing the data so yeah that's all I need to do.
