You write this as a fraction by putting the number on the left of the : on top and the right on the bottom. Every time you write a ratio as a fraction, you need to make a new word ratio. This is how it should look if it was a fraction:
Blue 5
------ --
Red 2
You can find a decimal by using the fraction. You can find a decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator. This is how you can show how to get a decimal:
5/2=2.5 The decimal is 2.5
You can find percent by converting the decimal. Every whole number in the decimal equals 100%. every tenth equals 10%, and every hundredth equals 1%.If the decimal has a number less then one hundredth, you have to round to the nearest hundredth.
2.5 = 200%+50%
2.5=250%
Yellow to Green
2:3
You can find equivalent ratios by multiplying or dividing the original numbers in a ratio.
Yellow to Green
2 : 3 x2
4 : 6 x3
12:18

1. One smoothie is made out of 2 strawberries, 1 banana and 4 cups of milk.
If you drank 2 smoothies, how much bananas would you have drank compared to strawberries? Don't simplify your answer.
2.A very successful farm has 12 cows, 5 pigs and 3 chickens.
The owner of the farm is looking to extend the capacity of the farm by 75%. How much cows compared to chickens and pigs should he get? Don't simplify your answer.
3. A box has 10 pencil crayons. 80 percent of them are purple, 5 percent of them are yellow and 15 percent of them are green. How much purple compared to yellow compared to green pencil crayons are in the box? Simplify your answer.
Part 2:
Some mistakes on my test:
For question 17, I said that there was no equivalent scored by to scored against ratio. I thought this because none of the ratios could be simplified to become equivalent. I was wrong because if you divide 10 and 8, you get the same answer as 115 and 92. When you divide equivalent ratios, you get the same answer. I will remember to divide ratios to find out if they are equivalent to other ratios.

Q1
ReplyDeleteif you drank 2 smoothies you would have to drink 2 bananas and 4 strawberries. The ratio would be...
2 : 4
bananas to strawberries
Q2
to get the answer you would have to multiply everything by 3. So 12 cows would be 12 x 3 = 36
chickens would be 3 x 3 = 9 and pigs would be 5 x 3 = 15.
So if the farmer increased his farm by 75 percent he would have. 36 cows, 15 pigs, 9 chickens. you have to add the chicken and pigs and compare to the cows. so the ratio is...
( 36 : 24)
( cows to chicken and pigs added together)
Q3
Number 3 has no ratio in it.
1.bananas to strawberries
ReplyDelete2 : 4
2.cows to chickens and pigs
36 : 24
3.purple to yellow to green
8 : 0.5 : 1.5
17.Baseball team A and basketball team A have equivalent scored by to scored against ratio.
