BOB, ratio, tamika816, oct.20

I grouped these crayons in 4 different groups. GREENS- spring green, yellow green, green. BLUES- cadet blue, turquoise blue, sky blue. REDS- salmon, wild strawberry. OTHER- silver, yellow orange, purple, gold.

Part-to-part ratios
- GREENS to REDS
3:2

- BLUES to OTHER
3:4

- REDS to OTHER
2:4

Part-to-whole ratios
- REDS to total
2:12

- OTHER to total
4:12

Part-to-part-to-part
- GREENS to REDS to OTHER
3:2:4

- BLUES to OTHER to GREENS
3:4:3

Now I'm going to take REDS to OTHER and write it in ratio notation, as a fraction, as a decimal, and as a percent

ratio notation
2:4
fraction
2/4
decimal
0.5
percent
50%

Now I'm going to take OTHER to total and make an equivalent ratio.

An equivalent ratio is a ratio written in a lower term or a higher term.
To get a lower term you have to divide the numbers by any same number that will equal a whole number. To get a higher term you have to multiply the numbers by any same number. Example:

lower term 4:12= 2:6 I divided both numbers by 2.
higher term 4:12= 12:36 I multiplied both numbers by 3.

Here are 3 questions you should answer.
write blue to other as a fraction then write it 2 different ways.
write other to total as lowest term
Is greens to reds in the lowest term? Why?

  1. Good job Tamika!

    1)blue to pink 3/2 6/4 18/12

    2)green to total 3/12 1/4

3)Yes because 3/2 cannot be divided equally.

  2. Q1
-blue to yellow 3/2.you can write it as a decimal 1.5 and as a percent 150%

    Q2
-green to total 3:12..if you simplify that no. it will looks like this 1:4

    Q3
-greens to red are in lowest terms because if you divide 2 by 2 then it will equal to one and if you divide 3 by 2 you'll get 1.5..you can't put 1.5:1 because mr.harbacks said that it should only equal to a whole no.
