Reuben Cram pg 92 q.4

I know I didn't ask to do this scribe but I lost my other one and need to catch up.
4. what are the areas of the three squares shown.

e-30mm. To find the area of this square you need to times the number by itself to get it. 30 is 900mm2.
f-40mm. Now find the area of this square to get 1600 mm2
g-Now for the hypotenuse 50mm. 2500mm2. But now you have to know if it is a right triangle. Add the legs value together to get the hypotenuse. If you get the hypotenuse comment me that it was right and tell me how to paste a pic because I have no idea how to do it.

Deniel's Scribepost from Page 92 Question 15#

Hey everybody! I chose to do question 15# in the textbook in page 92 so here are my solutions!

Question 15...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Construction workers have began to dig a hole for a swimming pool. They want to check that the angle they have dug is 90°. They measure the diagonal as shown to be 9.5 m. Is the angle 90°?

Explain your reasoning!
So here are my answers.

I calculated the side lengths by squaring the numbers 6 and 8 and multiplying them by the same number I got 100.
I times 6x6=36 and 8x8=64 although adding them made it 100°. So
____
√100 = 10m

_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_

Another reason I have is that the angle is not a(n) right angle because since its not a perfect square because the diagonal should be 10m to be right angled. Also if it was gonna be a perfect square it should have been a 7x7 square but anyway since this question is easy comment if you want but yeah!

PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!!!!!! NOW hehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kevin's Scribepost for December 14th 2009

Hey guys !

My scribe post was to do number 13 from the textbook , so here it is.

13.A small triangular flower bed has a square
stepping stone at each of its sides. Is the
flower bed in the shape of a right triangle?
Explain your reasoning.
No, the garden is not a right triangle, because the sum of the
areas of the smaller squares (a.k.a the legs) are not equal to the area of the
largest square (a.k.a the hypotenuse) : 4800 + 4800 = 9800.

Warren's Scribepost for December 14th 2009

Heyyy Guyys

Here is question #14 that we did in our text book.

Determine which triangles are right triangles

A 9, 12, 15
B 7, 8, 11
C 7, 24, 25
D 16, 30, 34
E 10, 11, 14

Triangle A is a right triangle because 9 to the exponent of 2 and 12 to the exponent of 2 equals 225. And 225 is the area of the hpotenuse of triangle A (15 to the exponent of 2)

Triangle B is not a right triangle because 7 to the exponent of 2 is 49 and 8 to the exponent of 2 is 64, and 11 to the exponent of 2 is 121. But the hypotenuse of triangle B is 121. ( 11 to the exponent of 2)

Triangle C is a right triangle because 7 to the exponent of 2 and 24 to the exponent of 2 is 625. 625 is the area of the hypotenuse of triangle C ( 25 to the exponent of 2 )

Triangle D is a right triangle because 16 to the exponent of 2 and 30 to the exponent of 2 is 1156.
1156 is the area of the hypotenuse of triangle D (34 to the exponent of 2 )

Triangle E is not a perfect square because 10 to the exponent of 2 and 11 to the exponent of 2 is 221. But the hypotenuse of triangle E is ( 134 to the exponent of 2 which is 196)

Bruce's Scribepost, question 6, Dec 14.09

Hey guys,

Today Ms.U picked some of us to do a scribe on one of the questions. My question to answer was question number 6.

First leg=25cm squared
Long leg=144cm squared
Hypotenuse=169cm squared

a.Write an addition statement using the
areas of these three squares.

25cm (squared) + 144cm (squared) = 169 cm (squared)

b. What is the side length of each square?
The side length of each square is...
25cm (squared) = 5cm
144cm (squared) = 12cm
169cm (squared) = 13cm

c. Describe, using words and symbols, the
relationship between the side lengths of each square.

a (squared) + b (squared) = c (squared)
short leg + long leg = hypotenuse

That's my scribe PLEASE COMMENT

Question 12 :)

Hey everybody! Here is question 12 from our homework on page 93.

Use the Pythagorean Relationship to find the unknown area of each square:

a) Legs: 20cm2
32cm2
Hypotenuse: ?

In order to find the area of the square attached to the hypotenuse, we have to use the Pythagorean relationship. This means we have to find the sum of the area of the squares attached to the legs of the right triangle. (The hypotenuse is the diagonal line connecting the straight lines of the triangle, called legs).

20+32=52

The area of the square attached to the hypotenuse is 52cm2.

b) Legs: 100mm2
576mm2
Hypotenuse: ?

100+576=676

The area of the square attached to the hypotenuse is 676mm2.

c) Leg: 25cm2
hypotenuse: 90cm2
2nd leg: ?

90-25=65.

The area of the square attached to the 2nd leg is 65cm2.

d) Legs: 12cm2
12cm2
Hypotenuse: ?

12+12=24

The area of the square attached to the hypotenuse is 24cm2.

THANKS FOR READING! PLEASE COMMENT! (VOTE 4 LAURA!)

Question #4.

What are the areas of the three squares shown?
E = 30mm
F = 40mm
G = 50mm

30mm= 60
(30x2) or (30+30)

40mm= 80
(40x2) or (40+40)

50mm= 100
(50x2) or (50+50)

scribepost for dec.14th

HEY EVERYBODY

questions 9 on page 92

9. a) Calculate the areas of the three squares.
shorter leg is 2cm- area of square is 4cm2
longer leg is 3cm- area of square is 9cm2
hypotenuse is 4cm- area of square is 16cm2

b) Is this triangle a right triangle? Explain.
Yes the triangle is a right triangle because when you look at it there's a right angle. That means that where the two legs meet it's a 90 degree angle.

That is my answer I hope you understand what I was getting at.

How to stop an alien invasion using proportions

Okay, aliens have just landed on earth and they'll take it over if we don't teach them about proportions.

First, they wanted to know how to find a unit rate.

~ example: three dinner rolls cost 99 cents.
- Here's one way of doing this:

~ seven identical objects have a mass of 14kg.

then they wanted to know how to get other numbers other then one.

~ example: Delia was payed $35 for 5 h of babysitting. How much should she receive in 3 h?

The last thing they wanted to know was how to find a missing number.
~ example: Determine the missing numbers.
- 60km/3h = ?km/6h
This is how to do it: 3h x 2= 6h so 60km x 2=120km.
- $3/4cans = $15/?cans
All you have to do is: $3 x 5=$15 so 4cans x 5=20cans.

You need to remember what you do to one side you have to do to the other side.

It's good because after they learned everything they decided not to take over earth. Crazy aliens!!

Late Scribepost- 3 questions out of math textbook pg.99

4. Estimate the square root of each number,
to one decimal place. Check with a
calculator.
a) 72 b) 103 c) 55

a) 72
Microsoft Paint wasn't working so I will explain my answer in sentences. We now that 72 is nearest to 81, and 64 the square root of 81 is 9 and the square root of 64 is 8. We know the square root of 72 is between 8 and 9, of course it is closer to 8, because 72 is closer to 64. My estimation is 8.4.

The correct answer is: 8.4

b) 103
Okay so 103 is close to 110, 110's square root is 11. 103 is also close to 100 which square root is 10. 103 is closer to 100, so my estimation of 103's square root is 10.2.

The correct answer is: 10.1

c)55
Okay so 55 is close to 49 (Square root of that is 7), and 64 (Square root of that is 8). 55 is closer to 49, my estimation of 55's square root is 7.7.

The correct answer is: 7.4

5. Estimate each value, to one decimal
place. Check your answer with a
calculator.
a)
√14
Okay, so 14 is close to 9 and 16. 14 is closer to 16.
√9 = 3
√16 = 4

So my estimation is √14 = 3.9!
Correct Answer: 3.7

b)√86
We know 86 is close to 81 and 64. We know its obviously closer to 81.
√64 = 8
√81 = 9

So my estimation is √86 = 9.3!
Correct Answer: 9.2

c)√136
We know 136 is close to 110, and 144, we know it is closer to 144.
√110 = 11
√144 = 12

So my estimation is √136 = 11.4
Correct Answer: 11.6

Bruce's Winnipeg Harvest

Hey guys,

Mr Harbeck chose people to go and check out things that happen at Winnipeg Harvest. The people he chose from our class were me, Jomari and Tamika. Mr Harbeck also told us to write about our experience at Winnipeg Harvest.

Before we started our tour we met a man called Richard. Richard told us about all the work Winnipeg Harvest does each and everyday. Richard also told us about all the thoughtful volunteers who choose to use their time helping people at Winnipeg Harvest. After all the talking
we started our tour, we met a few volunteers(can't remember their names), they told us about what they do at Winnipeg Harvest. We eventually got an assignment on stacking potatoes, our goal was to beat our group's weight(can't remember weight). We stacked 1100 pounds of potatoes and 60 or so pounds of onions. We unloaded 3 big crates of potatoes and half a crate of onions which came to 1100 pounds of potatoes and 60 pounds of onions.

After all that stacking, we went into the main room and had some hot chocolate and some other snacks. Richard came in and told us what a wonderful job we had done. He also told us some jokes, one of those jokes were Whats the difference between boogers and broccoli(children eat boogers). He told us that all the potatoes we had stacked will help 110 families. He told us that his dream was seeing the Harvest close, because when it closes it means that there would be no more hungry people. Richard thanked us for our help and we were on our way back to school.

How I Stopped An Alien Invasion Using Proportions

WARNING !!! ALIEN INVASION !!!

It was just this morning when an alien was seen... landing.
He is a scout for his planet, and when he sends a signal to his mother ship through his computer... this planet will be no more.
I have managed to get a hold of his computer, but in order to deactivate it I need to answer three proportion questions.

Winnipeg Harvest

On December 11,2009, me and a few others went to Winnipeg Harvest

There, we met a man named Richard. He was and awesome guy. He showed us what people did in every part of the building, and told us a few jokes on the way.

The first thing he showed us was this map. It showed us all of the Winnipeg Harvest food banks in Winnipeg. He told us how they need to try and have as much as possible so people who need the food the most can get it easily.

Soon, he showed us what people did there.

He told us about the various people who have worked and volunteered there. He also showed how they sorted all of the donated food. .He also showed how they got all the canned , bottled and broken boxed food. People usually don't buy these even though they are perfectly fine. He then brought us to the freezer which had refrigerated food that they rarely got.

Eventually, we started to do some work. Earlier, we found out that together, we all weighed about 700 lbs. He challenged us to do more than our weight. We sorted the good and bad potatoes and onions. We worked for about an hour. In the end, we sorted at least 1000 lbs of potatoes. This was enough to help 110 families.

Richard congratulated and thanked us for all of our help. He repaid us by treating us with hot chocolate, candy and some chocolate muffins.

After helping them out I felt really good. I felt like I actually did something for our world.Overall, we had an awesome day.

How Warren scared the aliens away from earth.

Alien Story
These aliens came to Earth and told me that they were going to destroy my home planet. Then I begged and asked if there was anything I could do to save earth. They said " if you can solve these 3 questions on proportion we will consider not to destroy earth.

Runcel, kris, and Edmil's pay it forward

We saw a movie called Pay it forward In the movie, there was a kid who made up this method of everyone being kind to each other. One person had to do a kind thing to three different people and they have to do it too to spread across the globe. First it did not go well but in the end the kid was being interviewed and his idea to spread happiness and joy to the world was on television for many people to see. After that, the kid stood up for a poor kid being bullied three times. Sadly during the third time, the bully stabbed the kid and killed him but his idea will live on.

12. The rate at which glaciers melt is increasing globally. The Saskatchewan Glacier near Banff has receded 1.5 km in the last 75 years. The Peyto Glacier receded 1320 m from 1923 to 1993. Which glacier had the greater annual rate of melting?

Saskatchewan glacier melts 0.02 km in the last 75 years.

1500 m /75 year= 20 m/year;

The Peyto Glacier receded 1320 m from 1923 to 1993. Which glacier had the greater annual rate of melting?

It didn't say how many years did 1320m receded here is how you get it, subtract 1993 by 1923 together you get 70 years!!! Peyto Glacier: 1 320 m/70 year= 18.86 m/year.

The Saskatchewan glacier has the greater rate of melting.

Chantell M's Pay it Forward

Sorry for the lateness, I wasn't able to post this because my Internet was down for a bit.

Part 1:

Pay it Forward is the type of movie that gets you to think. It gets you to think about being kinder to people. Or about being more generous to those around you. Simple acts of kindness that get those you've helped to do the same. I think making an effort to change the lives of people who are perfect strangers, is noble. Helping them, and wanting nothing in return is the ultimate act of selflessness. To think of someone else's needs just because you want to, and not because you're the only on there. For someone so young to think of such an idea is remarkable! Not only is it remarkable, but profound. Getting people around the country to 'pay it forward' is something not the average person would think of. I think Trevor is a hero in his own right. It doesn't matter to me that he is a fictional character, the idea of it all is what gets to me. Also to 'pay it forward' one must go beyond the boundaries and help someone with a choice or deed that they can't make or do themselves. You don't need to be a superhero to pay it forward. All you need is the instance and the opportunity to do so. So when you can 'Pay it Forward'.

Part 2:

I paid it forward by preforming at Lion's Place, with S.P.A.C.E (Sargent Park Advanced Coral ensemble. We preformed for about 20-25 senior citezens and they loved us!

I chose this activity after being shot down with my other attempts. I tried to clean mhy street but it got too cold too fast. Brrr! It's still freezing. Where's my hat and gloves? Anyway.

S.P.A.C.E. and sang and danced for a group of elderly people. We sang various Christmas songs, and danced. My feet still hurt!

I did my act of kindness on Wednesday, December 9th. Like I said I was shot down in my other attempts. I wonder of the bullet holes are still there. *checks* Nope they're gone, all healed up.

I don't have any pictures, which sucks for me... I tried to film it and take a few pictures, but I couldn't find my USB cord to upload them.... I'm sad about that.

Part 3:

The whole thing went pretty well. We even got to do an encore! They loved it! Wait, I said that already right? Whoops...

Each time we stopped singing they clapped and I felt that they really enjoyed the songs we sang. I'm glad we took the time to put smiles on their faces. We even got cookies out of it! Not that they're the only thing I care about. They were good and I'm glad they thought we were good enough to make them happy.

I felt great! The singing and dancing was really fun and the audience really enjoyed it. I hope we can do something like this again. Hehe we even got to get out of class for it. (Um disregard that, please?)

The people reacted well. They clapped nad laughed and smiled, it was a great experience. I'm glad we made them happy.

We left before I could explain about paying it forward. I wish I could of said it though. But, I think they will pay it forward regardless. They're just awesome like that. You agree, because come on, people like that aren't selfish or greedy.

Part 4:

I think paying it forward is important, because it gets people to think of those who need help. Helping others for the sake of helping and not because you've been told to is just - just EPIC! Yeah, that's my word, not stealing.... or else... Just kidding, ot you huh? No? Darn...

I guess my act of kindness made a difference. I mean if we didn't preform I guess the senior citezen's day would have been a little bit boring. Something to make their day or lift their spirits I guess.

What was your act of kindness?

My act of kindness is volunteering at the library.

Why did you chose this activity?

My first plan was to buy some non-parishible foods with some of my birthday money but i could not go with my mom for grocery shopping. I then just donated the money I was going to spend. Volunteering at the library with Runcel was my last option.

Who did you help?

We helped the librarian at the library.

What did you do?

We did some work in the library like putting away magizines and stacking chairs.

When did you do you act of kindness?

Pay it forward is someone doing something good or helpful to 3 people and each of those 3 people do something good to 3 other people and each of those 3 people do something good for 3 other people and on and on. My thoughts that I had after the movie about pay it forward (my paragraph) are that Trevor did a really good thing by his pay it forward. One really good thing about pay it forward is that if everybody does their part by paying it forward then it should never end and people should always be helping other people. If a whole bunch of people from different country's watched that movie and they payed it forward and then the next people payed it forward and it kept going that would be really good.

Part 2

What was your pay it forward act of kindness?
My pay it forward act of kindness was I made little baggies and I put a few little treats in the baggies and then I put a sticky note on each of them that said "pay it forward" and at the bottom it said from SP kids and I put them in people's mailboxes.

Why did you chose this activity?
I chose this activity because it would help lots of people instead of just a few people and that would mean more people would pay it forward.

Who did you help?

I helped people on Garfield st. around the little convenience store called Ashcroft's.

What did you do?
What I did was I made little goodie bags and I put them in peoples mail boxes.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on Monday December 7, 2009.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went pretty good except for when my picture was getting taken in front of the house because I was putting the treat in the mail box and I was afraid that the people inside the house would see the camera flash and come out and get all mad.

What Happened?
Well, I started after school when I went and made the treat bags and then I just basically put them in peoples mailboxes.

How did you feel?
I felt pretty good because I know that I did something good for some people and that they might help other people and it might go on and on.

How did that person or people react?
I am not sure how the people reacted because they could have looked in their mailbox at any time and I was their to see their reaction because it was cold out.

Did you ask the person or people to "pay it forward"?
Yes, I did ask the people to pay it forward by asking them on the sticky note I stuck on their baggies.

How did they react to your request?
I am not sure how the people reacted to my request .

If you did not ask the people to "pay it forward" how come?
I did ask the people to pay it forward.

Part 4

Why is the idea of "pay it forward" important?
The idea of pay it forward is important because it is a special act of kindness that is important because if it works then people should always be helping people.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I am not sure if my act of kindness has made a difference but by now if it has it has probably happened by now or tomorrow. I really hope that my act of kindness has made a difference because that is what some of this project was about.

Deniel's Pay it forward!!

Hey this is about me paying it forward so yeah here I go:

Part 1: What did the movie 'Pay it forward' mean to you?

In my opinion after I watched the movie it was great changing someones life into making that person make more people getting a better life changing more and more and more. The movie was also about a kid who wanted to change the world by... helping a homeless man, a kid as the same age as him and his teacher. Its also a kind thing not to think of yourself but to think of yourself and other people meaning not being selfish but being the kindest person you can be.But it is also a good thing in life.

Part 2:What was your act of kindness?

My act of kindness was to mail letters into peoples mail boxes and which some people declined but some people thought it was nice so it was kind of cold but after we did it, it was cool mailing it house to house.

Why did you choose this activity?

I chose the activity because I thought it would be a great thing because if a person didn't have anything in life it would remind them if they had a son or daughter thing but a lot of people asked why I was sending it so we would tell them what it was.

Who did you help?
I helped any person who would accept the envelope but it would be great and yeah

What did you do?
I sent out mailing envelopes of cards in it putting it into mail boxes.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on the last 2 days before the due date on December 08 2009

Part 3: How did your act of kindness go?
It went pretty good actually but some houses didn't want the envelope so I gave it to another house and kept on going and going til we were done mailing.

What Happened?
I was afraid of putting it in mail boxes because the people inside the house would like come out saying what are you doing and like they decline it being all mad and grumpy and it was really cold outside at night I was afraid we wouldn't last long.

How did you feel?
It kinda felt I could do more but as I said it was really cold at night so it was frustrating taking pictures and taking off our gloves and putting them back on.I also felt a feeling that it was a good thing because after I did it made me happy because we mailed the envelopes into house to house and added some stuff in the envelopes. But I also felt shy because when I placed them in the mailboxes I felt like I had to run because the person could have been scary but yeah.
How did the person or people react?
After I placed some letters and knocked on some doors the people were surprised what we were giving them and some thought it was a big thick chocolate bar and some said thank you and the other's left and said thank you and didn't even ask why but oh well.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay it forward"?
I actually forgot a person but I said it to the other people and it was really hard to explain it and I was really shy and froze up when they answered the door.

How did they react to your request?
Yeah went good and some were surprised after I told them what "Paying it forward" meant to us and them.

Part 4: Why is the Idea "Pay it forward important"?
It is the most important thing in life because it makes people have a second chance and helping them not to do violence but to respect everyone and everywhere. Also it shows that not everyone is different being rich or poor, ugly or beautiful, and a boy or girl because we are all the same that's how the creator of us made us this way.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I hope it does make a difference but in my opinion I just want them to accept it and not to decline or throw it away but to be thankful for it.

DON'T FORGET!.... Pay it forward straight on ahead!

Pay It Forward

Part 1
So after I finished watching the movie "Pay It Forward" I learned a lot, about empathy, and putting yourself in somebody else's shoes. The movie was about a 12 year old kid who had a system of "Paying It Forward". The system was someone does a good deed, and that person does a good deed for 3 other people, and it just continues in the cycle. I learned sometimes its better to think about other people before yourself, and understand how other people are feeling, which is close to impossible.

Part 2

What was your act of kindness?
My act of kindness was cleaning my room without being asked to. Usually my parents have to ask me to clean it but I decided, to just go in my room and clean it up.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose to do this activity, because my room was mess, and my Mother was really unhappy about it, so I tried to think about how she was feeling (annoyed probably), so I went to clean my room up.

Who did you help?
I helped my Mom by saving her the stress.

What did you do?
I cleaned my room without my parents asking me to.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness December 8th of 2009.

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
It went pretty good, but I still need to re-clean my room, cause it isn't really that clean.

What Happened?
My mom saw it, she said it was okay, but I have to clean it again on the weekend.. she was happy I did it without being asked to though.

How did you feel?
I felt good about it, usually I have to be asked to do something like that, and this is probably the first time I cleaned my room without being asked to.

How did the person react?
The reaction was pretty good, she was happy that I had cleaned it up, because she says "It looked hideous" but I doubt it was that bad..

Did you ask the person to "Pay It Forward"
Yes I told my Mom to smile when she goes to work, and say hi to everybody she hates. Just a simple smile can be paying it forward.

How did they react to your request
The reaction wasn't "hurray" it was a just an average reaction. I might have to remind her to pay it forward.

If you did not ask the person to pay it forward how come?
I did ask.

What is the idea of "Pay It Forward"? Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I think the idea of "Paying It Forward" is to be nice to somebody, or do a good deed for somebody, without being asked to. Just naturally having empathy, and being nice etc. I don't think my "Pay It Forward" drastically made a difference, but its made a difference in my Mom's day, her blood pressure was lower, and I saved her the shouting. Thanks for reading my "Pay It Forward".

Brendan8-16 Scribepost

heeeeeeeeeeey guys!

Today in math class Mr. Harbeck called out people's name's who haven't done a post yet. U
nfortunately I was one of them. So, we had to pick 3 questions for either our math homework book or the text book . I chose the homework book..

6. Write out the perfect square root immediately before and after the whole number , and then estimate the square root of the whole number to one decimal place . Check your estimates with a calculator.

Sorry if it's too burly.

7. Martina's painting is on a square canvas with an area of 45 cm2. She needs to buy a frame for the painting. Estimate the square's side length to one decimal place. Show your work .
8. Braden's new game board has 225 small squares. all of the small squares form one large square. How many small square are along one side ? Show your work .

3 Questions from the text book.

Mr. Harbeck told me that I had to answer 3 questions that were in our Text book/Homework.

So... here it goes....

Homework Book Questions:

1. Ingrid says that she knows that 9 and 16 are perfect squares, and that 10 is not. Is she correct?Explain your thinking.

Yes, Because the prime factors of 9 and 16 repeat themselves. 9 is the product of 3x3 and 16 is the product of 2x2x2x2.10 is not a perfect square because the prime factors do not repeat themselves.

2.Alasie's local football field has an area of 1296 m2. Is 1296 a perfect square? Show your thinking.

Ex:1296=2x2x2x2x3x3x3x3. It is a perfect square because it is the product of 36x36.

3.Brandon's new game board has 225 small squares. All of the small squares from one lagre square. How many squares are along one side? Show your work.

Brianna and Nhea's Pay it Forward

Part 1 -
The movie was very sad and touching, one eleven year old boy made a deference. In the beginning it all starts out as a Social Studies project that turns into a world wide movement. To me this one boy had an amazing impact on the people around him. All he did was was feed a homeless man, then that man stopped a women from throwing away her life and from there more people were inspired to help and be kind to one another. In the end the boy, Trevor, was killed for trying to help someone in trouble. In my opinion he went about it the wrong way because instead of involving himself in the fight he could have spoken to the boys or told an adult what was happening. If he tried any of these solutions he might not have died. But over all this movie inspired me to be be kind to people and help them, I think I might even try donating to a charity once in a while. This movie had a very powerful and effective message, the more people that watch it, the more people will be inspired to help out.

Part 2 -
Nhea and I helped kids and adults at Busy Bee Daycare, where Nhea grew up at.
We chose this activity because we like working with kids, and because that's where pretty much grew up and I got to know all the adults and kids. One girl even got really attached to me. I helped the adults clean the tables after snack time, I helped the big kids with their beading, and the little kids their reading. I jocked around with the kids and got to know some of the kids and adults. Today at 4:oo, December 8, 2009.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go? The volunteering was really fun and very entertaining. Nhea and I got to know the kids better, and one of the staff members, Jerry, told us a whole bunch of jokes. I felt pretty at home because the adults were friendly and the kids were happy to see us. Cathrine, one of the staff members was very friendly and I became slightly attached to her because we talked like we were the best of friends, in my opinion she was pretty cool. The daycare manager, Donna, had a motherly personality, I say this because even though she was strict, she was still kind and warm hearted. Everyone there made me feel warm and welcome I felt very comfortable. The adults seemed very appreciative of our help and the kids were happy to have us around. No, i didn't because they were young and i don't think they would really understand.

Part 4-
I think pay it forward is important because if you help one person then, they may help another person and so the helping chain begins, this shows the importance of helping others. I believe that it made a difference to the kids because we showed them right from wrong, and I hope that it will make them better people in the future.

STEPHANIE, Jasmine and Karra's Pay it forward.

PART 1.
What is Pay It Forward?
My thoughts on pay it forward is that if you try to do something, don't think it won't work, because one way or another someone can be inspired by you and tell other people. Even if you think someone won't be inspired by whatever you do or tell them, there is at least 1 person who would admire you. If people become more mature about things then maybe it can make a difference to the world. The project that they did in Social Studies was kind of the thing that we need fore school. I think this video was suppose to make us nice because if we are or if we know someone who is bad then probably this movie will help us to think twice about what we should do then maybe people wouldn't end up so bad in the future. I like the idea 'Pay it Forward' by helping three people, then they help three people. Even if you just do that, you can help the world a whole lot.

Part 2.
What was your pay it forward act of kindness?
- My act of kindness was that my friends and I got cards and lollipops and handed them out randomly at Polo Park.

Why did you chose this activity?
- I chose this activity because I found that it would be a real fun and easy way for people to see how kind we are by doing this just because we want to.

Who did you help?
- I think that I helped a lot of people to open up their Christmas spirit.

When did you do your act of kindness?
- My group and I did our act of kindness on December 07, 2009. It was the only day that all three of us weren't doing anything after school.

PART 3.
How did your act of kindness go?
- My act of kindness went great, I never thought that it would have been as great of a success as I thought it would be.

What happened?
- Well when we were giving out the cards, most people had a huge smile on their faces and gave us positive comments. For the people who rejected us, they rejected us kindly they said, "No thank you!" which was polite and didn't give our hopes up.

How did you feel?
- I felt great. At first I thought it would have been pretty boring, but then once we started making the cards , putting messages and giving them out. I got a feeling that I never felt before, the feeling that I did something good which I did. I really loved how after we gave out cards or pass by people who saw us giving out cards saying, "Aw, their so cute!" It really made me have more confident. When we had no more cards left, I really wanted to buy more and give it out!

How did the person or people react?
- Well some people really appreciated 3 girls giving them Christmas cards. When I was looking at them they had really big smiles on, I felt like i mad their day. But then some people were just really cranky and give us a look and walk away. But then it was probably because we were taking videos and pictures of them.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay it forward"?
- Yes I did. That was one thing that I never forgot to say when I handed them the cards.

How did they react to your request?
- For some people we had to explain what 'Paying it forward'.

PART 4.
Why is the idea "Pay it forward" important?
- The idea of Paying it Forward is important because you can make the grumpy people happy and asking people to "Pay it Forward" can change anything.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
- I really hope it made a difference, because my group and I tried real hard to even make the slightest difference.
