Warren's Scribepost for December 14th 2009

Heyyy Guyys

Here is question #14 that we did in our text book.

Determine which triangles are right triangles

A 9, 12, 15
B 7, 8, 11
C 7, 24, 25
D 16, 30, 34
E 10, 11, 14

Triangle A is a right triangle because 9 to the exponent of 2 and 12 to the exponent of 2 equals 225. And 225 is the area of the hpotenuse of triangle A (15 to the exponent of 2)

Triangle B is not a right triangle because 7 to the exponent of 2 is 49 and 8 to the exponent of 2 is 64, and 11 to the exponent of 2 is 121. But the hypotenuse of triangle B is 121. ( 11 to the exponent of 2)

Triangle C is a right triangle because 7 to the exponent of 2 and 24 to the exponent of 2 is 625. 625 is the area of the hypotenuse of triangle C ( 25 to the exponent of 2 )

Triangle D is a right triangle because 16 to the exponent of 2 and 30 to the exponent of 2 is 1156.
1156 is the area of the hypotenuse of triangle D (34 to the exponent of 2 )

Triangle E is not a perfect square because 10 to the exponent of 2 and 11 to the exponent of 2 is 221. But the hypotenuse of triangle E is ( 134 to the exponent of 2 which is 196)
