4. Determine the unit rate in each situation

1 - An orca swims 110 km in 2 h.
- 110 divided by 2 = 55 , 55= 1 hour . 55 km in 1 h

2 - A Canada goose flies 800 km in 12.5 h.

- 800 divided by 12.5 = 64 , 64 km per hour

c)Cathy plants 45 daffodils in 30 min.

- 30 x 2 = 60 min ( 1 hour) , 45 x 2 = 90 , 90 daffodils in 1 hour.

Trever rode his mountain bike 84 km in 3h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is the faster cyclist? How do you know?

- 84 divided by 3 = 28
70 divided by 2.5 = 28

Trevor and Jillian both rode at the same speed, 28km per hour.

Part 2

These are the Grade 8 ingredients for Spaghetti Sauce. This recipe serves 4 people.

We have to show what the recipe would look like if we fed 10 people, and also if we served only 1.

To find the recipe for 10 people is very simple, all you have to do is multiply everything by 2.5.

2.5 tsp oregano
2.5 tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/4 tsp seasoning salt
2.5 bay leaf
