Define Ratio: A relationship between two quantities, normally expressed as the quotient of one divided by the other


Define Rate: A quantity measured by another quantity .
Example : 60km/h [rate of speed]




What is the difference between rate and ratio?
Ratio : Comparing 2 numbers with the same unit
Example) Reds to Greens or 4 cars to 7 trucks

Rate: Its measured in different units (km/h)

Example) Bob was traveling 100km/h for 3 hours how fast was he traveling for 2 hours?


10. Trevor rode his mountain bike 84 km in
3 h. Jillian rode 70 km in 2.5 h. Who is
the faster cyclist? How do you know?




Neither cyclist is the fastest. Because both cyclist got the numbers 28 and 1.




Gill collected $12.00 in 2 hours . Jojo collected $14.00 in 4 and a half hours. What is the unit rate?
