alex's rate growing post

This was our homework for the weekend.

Rate-A comparison of two quantities measured in different units.

Ratio-A comparison of two quantities measured in the same units.

The difference between a ratio and rate is that a ratio compares two quantities measured in the same units and a rate compares two quantities measured in different units.

Shannon buys 12 granola bars for $9.96.

a)Determine the price per bar. Give your answer in dollars and cents.
Zero dollars and 83 cents.

b)Explain whether your answer in question a) is a ratio or rate.
My answer in part a is a rate because $0.83/bar is dealing with something per something.
