So the aliens think I cannot solve these simple proportions and show how we did it eh? I will prove them wrong!
11. A small gear turns 18 times in the same time as the large gear turns 4 times. How many times will the large gear turn if the small gear turn 54 times? Draw a diagram to help set up a proportion and solve the problem.
So pretty much I know that every proportion or ratio problem gives out three information. The ones that are highlighted are the three information that I'm looking for. So I'll draw a proportion diagram that will help me solve the answer.
So if I times 3 by four, the answer would be 12!! Oh! The aliens are impressed about my math work. But they won't go away! I need to do two more questions to make them go back to their home planet.
12. Set up a proportion for each situation using a variable. Do not answer the question.
A) Walter makes his own oil and vinegar dressing. His recipe calls for 175 mL of olive oil and 50 mL of vinegar. What amount of vinegar does he need to mix with 300 mL of olive oil?
So this question is very simple! All I have to do is to make the proportion of it. I guess I don't have to solve it at all! Remember the highlighted text in very problem is the 3 information that I'm looking for.
B) A Baseball player has a home run to strikeouts ratio of 3:17. How many home runs he would hit if he strikes out 187 times?
This problem is very simple do to! It's just like the first problem that I've done in question 12. Remember, the letter is the variable!
Well.. The aliens are scared of me now that I had solved the second question. Which contains two problems! Now IT'S TIME TO FINISH THEM OFF WITH THE LAST QUESTION!!
16. At an amusement park, a new thrill ride was introduced. It costs $7.50 for 3 rides on the Wild Slider.
A) What was the Wilder Slider unit rate per ride?
So the unit rate would be.. $2.50/ride. Now that's been done, this would help me solve my final question to defeat the aliens!
B) At this rate, what would it cost for 18 rides on the Wild Slider? Determine the answer in two different ways.
Yikes! I have to answer this question is two different ways!?!? Oh well guess what aliens? You think this final question is over for me but it's not! I know two ways to answer this question by using two different tables!
NOW TAKE THAT YOU ALIENS! I'VE SOLVED THE LAST QUESTION AND SHOWED MY WORK AND NOW YOU ALIENS ARE GOING RIGHT BACK TO... PLANET 51!! (OH YEAH I KNOW WHAT KIND OF ALIENS YOU ARE! BUT NOT A STALKER!) BE GONE ALIENS!

ReplyDeletei really like the story you made..you also explained everything well..
highlighting the informations you need is a goodi idea!
