Gordon8-16's Rate Growing Post

Hi I'm just going to cut to the chase.

Part 1

1. Ratio : Compares quantities of the same measurement
Rate : Compares quantit
ies of different measurements

A rate compares different measurements where as a ratio compares those of the same measurement.

2. Question 4 on page 60 asks us:
A) How many km per hour if you drive 110km in 2 hour's?
55km/hr
B) How many km per hour if you drive 800km in 12.5 hour's?
64km/hr
C) How daffodils did this girl plant per minute if she planted 45 in 30 minute's
Roughly 1.5 dafodile's/hr

3. Question 12 on page 61 asks us:
Which glacier melts faster if glacier A melted 1.5km in 75 years and glacier B metled 1320m in 70 years?
This one is a little more complicated first we convert the m into km by dividing by 1000 to get 1.32km now the answer is easy using a ratio table we get
Glacier A: 20m/year
Glacier B: 18.86m/year
Glacier A melted faster

4. Look at the coin question again from the ratio unit. Create a question that can be answered using rate. Answer that question.

How many coins per 5 cm of the jar?
Unfortunetly this cannot be answerd without the jar.

Part 2

This recipe serves 4 people what would amount of ingredients would be necisarry to serve 10 people?
