For this problem I tried to use a ratio table:

First I fould 1% then I used that to find the

GST:1.75

PST:2.10

The total cost of the backpack would be $38.85

$35.00

$1.75

$2.10

= $ 38.85

2)

100%-40%=60%. So I found 60% out of 35. And then I found the GST and the PST, from that.
