Combining Percents

I will get on with the scribe post (3 Questions from Page 148-149 of my choice)

Q6
Key Information:
CD Player with a cost of $85.00
50% is cut off
Additional 10% was taking off the reduced price

Okay so $85.00÷2 = $42.50 or $42.5
Now we need to find the additional 10% that was reduced.

$42.5÷10 = $4.25
Now we subtract $4.25 from $42.5 which is $38.25, and that is our answer.

Q4
Key Information:
• 2 binders at $4.99 each
• 1 math set for $3.99
• a backpack for $19.99
Find the total cost including 5% GST
and 7% PST.

Now lets start with the PST and GST. So we know its 5% GST and 7% PST so lets add those together.

5%+7%=12%

Now lets add up the prices of all those items that Chris bought.
3.99+4.99(x2)+19.99=$33.96 (Basically $34).

Now lets put this in a ratio table, cause I think that would be an easier way.

So now $34.00+$4.08=$34.08, which is our answer.

Q9
Key Information:
23,000 Dollar car
cost of car increased 3.2%

a)
Okay so we know if it increased by 50% it would be 46,000.

Okay I really have no idea if I'm correct or incorrect on this one I was playing with the calculator. So if im wrong please correct me.

23,000x0.032=736
23,000+736=23,736

The price of the car was $23,736.00 when Arjay purchased it.

b)
GST 5%
PST 5%
5+5=10%
