OK, so here are the shapes.
Rectangular Prism

I really do not know how to list the measurements of this rectangular prism but I will try to explain them as best I can.The top front line that is going horizontal is 10 cm, the bottom line on the right side is 15cm, and the line on the front right that is going vertical is 12cm.

the measurements of this are the very top line is 10 cm, the bottom line on one of the arms is 15cm, and the side of the arm and head is 12cm.
The formulas for finding the surface are of the rectangular prism are:

Surface area is the sum of the areas of all the faces of a 3-D object.
Surface Area = A1 + A2 + A3 + A4 + A5 + A6,
where A1 represents the area of rectangle 1, A2
represents the area of rectangle 2, etc.

So first I have to find the area:
lxw =a
12x10=a
120=a for a1, a2, a3, and a4
lxw=a
15x12=a
180=a
TSA=120+12o+120+120+180+180
TSA=840

Triangular prism

Here is the formula for finding the surface area of the triangular prism and I am solving it here.
Surface area = (3 × area of rectangle) + (2 × area of triangle)
= (1 × 300) + (2 × 120) + (2 x 500)
= 300 + 240 + 1000
= 1540

Cylinder prism

The measurements are the radius of the circles are 5cm, the circumference of the circles are 12cm and the lines are22cm

The formula's for finding the surface area of a cylinder are
The surface area of a cylinder is the sum of the
areas of its faces.
S.A. = 2 × (π × r2) + (π × d × h) or to shorten this it could be S.A.= 2πr2 + πdh
To solve it I will use the formula
S.A.=2x3.14x25 + 3.14x 10x

OK. so for my scribe, I decided to do question 14 on page 113 so here it is.
14).the question for this is find the missing side length of each triangle.

a)c+b=d-each of these letters are supposed to be squared
12m+5m=d-each of these letters are supposed to be squared
(12mx12m)+(5mx5m)=d-the d is supposed to be squared
144+25=d-the d is supposed to be squared
169=d-the d is supposed to be squared
169=d-the d is supposed to be squared and their should be a square root over the 169 and d
13=d

b)w-t=v-each of these letters are supposed to be squared
15cm-9cm=v-each of these letters are supposed to be squared
(15cmx15cm)-(9cmx9cm)=v-the v is supposed to be squared
225-81=v-the v is supposed to be squared
144=v-the v is supposed to be squared
144=v-the v is supposed to be squared and their should be a square root over the 144 and v
12=v

So A's side length is 13m and B's side length is 12cm.

Alex's pay it forward

Part 1

What is "pay it forward"?
Pay it forward is someone doing something good or helpful to 3 people and each of those 3 people do something good to 3 other people and each of those 3 people do something good for 3 other people and on and on. My thoughts that I had after the movie about pay it forward (my paragraph) are that Trevor did a really good thing by his pay it forward. One really good thing about pay it forward is that if everybody does their part by paying it forward then it should never end and people should always be helping other people. If a whole bunch of people from different country's watched that movie and they payed it forward and then the next people payed it forward and it kept going that would be really good.

Part 2

What was your pay it forward act of kindness?
My pay it forward act of kindness was I made little baggies and I put a few little treats in the baggies and then I put a sticky note on each of them that said "pay it forward" and at the bottom it said from SP kids and I put them in people's mailboxes.

Why did you chose this activity?
I chose this activity because it would help lots of people instead of just a few people and that would mean more people would pay it forward.

Who did you help?
I helped people on Garfield st. around the little convenience store called Ashcroft's.



What did you do?
What I did was I made little goodie bags and I put them in peoples mail boxes.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness on Monday December 7, 2009.



Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went pretty good except for when my picture was getting taken in front of the house because I was putting the treat in the mail box and I was afraid that the people inside the house would see the camera flash and come out and get all mad.

What Happened?
Well, I started after school when I went and made the treat bags and then I just basically put them in peoples mailboxes.

How did you feel?
I felt pretty good because I know that I did something good for some people and that they might help other people and it might go on and on.

How did that person or people react?
I am not sure how the people reacted because they could have looked in their mailbox at any time and I was their to see their reaction because it was cold out.

Did you ask the person or people to "pay it forward"?
Yes, I did ask the people to pay it forward by asking them on the sticky note I stuck on their baggies.

How did they react to your request?
I am not sure how the people reacted to my request .

If you did not ask the people to "pay it forward" how come?
I did ask the people to pay it forward.

Part 4

Why is the idea of "pay it forward" important?
The idea of pay it forward is important because it is a special act of kindness that is important because if it works then people should always be helping people.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
I am not sure if my act of kindness has made a difference but by now if it has it has probably happened by now or tomorrow. I really hope that my act of kindness has made a difference because that is what some of this project was about.

Today in class, we added to our big yellow paper.
for example, we had tho squares added together to make one big square but to do that we had to cut up 4 little squares into a whole bunch of pieces and put the pieces so that they fit around the big square you already made.
Today we added two more small squares to the big square to make one really big square and it should look like this.

Today we added the two other squares so now it should look like this.


Now that we got all of the smaller squares put into one big square, we can now make the chart about the side length and the area for all of the squares which would look like




So that is basically all we did in class today so now onto the homework for tonight.
You can make 20 perfect squares with 4 squares because the smallest perfect square is 1x1 and the largest perfect square is 20x20 and there is every thing inbetween.
The approximate side length for 2 squares is 14 little squares, for 3 squares it is 17 little squares, and for 4 squares it is 20 little squares

I think that if you started dropping coins into the jar on January 1 you would stop on around January 13, 2:00.

alex's graphing BOB

Three things I know about graphing are:

1)Every graph uses numbers

2)Almost every graph has title and a few words on the left and bottom telling what is happening their. Only the circle graph does not have any words on the left or bottom and that is because it does not need it.

3)The bar graph, the double bar graph, the line graph, and the double line graph all have a X and Y axis.

What I need to improve on is :

What I need to improve on is I should have put a circle graph,I should have explained more of what I should have said in my paragraphs, and made my paragraphs less confusing.

The ratio of the width to the length on a Canadian flag is 1:2.

a) The flag on the cover of an atlas is 12 cm wide, what is it's length?
The length of the flag on the cover of the atlas would be 24 cm long because on the real Canadian flag the width is half of the length so the same would occur here and 12 is half of 24 and 12 is the width and 24 is the length.

b)A large flag outside a Calgary school is 3 meters in length, what is its width?
The width of the flag would be 1.5 meters because again the width is half the length and the length is 3 meters and half of 3 is 1.5 meters wide.

Our homework was to find out how 4/4+4/4=2 and 4÷4+4÷4=2 are the same.

4/4+4/4=2 and 4÷4+4÷4=2 are the same because / and ÷ both mean divide by.

So then in 4/4+4/4=2 the only difference is the / does not look the same as the ÷ but it means the same therefor the answer can be 2 for4/4+4/4 and 4÷4+4÷4

My answer in part a is a rate because $0.83/bar is dealing with something per something.

The biggest block of cheese was the better price.
